Kim Yeon-koung is a Korean professional volleyball player and member of the FIVB Athletes Committee. She is an outdoor player and captain of the Korean national team, and currently plays for Heungkuk Life. Kim signed a three-year contract with Fenerbahçe in 2011 after playing for Heungkuk Life in Korea for four seasons and JT Marvelous in Japan for two seasons. She signed a two-year extension with Fenerbahçe and an extension for the 2016 season. She spent the 2017-18 season in the Chinese volleyball tournament and returned to Turkey the following year with Eczacıbaşı VitrA. Kim is the London 2012 Olympics Player of the Year and top scorer, although South Korea is only fourth. She holds the Olympic record with the highest score of 207 points in 8 matches, surpassing Gamova's record of 204 points in Athens 2004. She is currently considered one of the best volleyball athletes in the world.
