Men Brought Into Jussie Smollett Investigation One Of Them Works With Jussie In Empire

According to a report from The Chicago Tribune on the 14th of February, two men, one of which who works with Jussie Smollett on the set of the series, Empire, were brought into police custody to speak with authorities about the incident involving Mr. Smollett when he was supposedly attacked by men who yelled, “This is MAGA country.”

Sources who spoke with the outlet claim Jussie was picked up by the Chicago Police Department on the 13th of February following his flight to the O’Hare Airport, states TMZ. Anthony Guglielmi emphasized that two of the men were not singled out as suspects.

But TMZ had a different side of the story. The outlet claims both men were identified as “persons of interest.” Thus far, the authorities haven’t released the identities of the men in question, and it isn’t known if either of them was involved in the January 2019 incident.

However, the police do believe the two individuals were present for the attack. This comes just after Smollett’s interview on TV in which he said, “I will never be the man that this did not happen to.” Jussie said to reporters that we, as people, have the ability to turn bad things into good things.

As it was noted above, Smollett was attacked last month by men who apparently yelled homophobic and racist slurs at him, in addition to saying “This is MAGA country.” Additionally, the perpetrators sent him a letter which had magazine letters cut out to form a hateful message.

Reports claimed last month that they also tied a noose around his neck, however, not a lot of people on social media believed Smollett’s purported attack.

In fact, many individuals accused the Empire star of overtly lying about his situation for political/publicity gains. Theo Von, on his This Past Weekend podcast, suggested the story appeared to be a bit theatrical, as did Bryan Callen and Brendan Schaub on their The Fighter and the Kid podcast.

Currently, it’s unclear who the police are investigating and what will come of the purported incident, but it looks like authorities are on it and are treating it as a serious hate crime. Hopefully, the perpetrators will be brought to justice and they’ll see their day in court.
